Get ready for an exhilarating evening of swimming as we dive into Day 3 of the 2025 European Short Course Championships! The competition has been fierce so far, with national records being shattered left, right, and center. Today's finals session promises to be just as thrilling, with a packed schedule of 12 events, including six finals and six semifinals.

Let's start with the 100 IM finals, where the women's event is shaping up to be a tight race. Marrit Steenbergen, the top qualifier, swam an impressive 57.96 yesterday, just edging out Barbora Janickova of Czechia by a mere hundredth of a second. Roos Vanotterdijk of Belgium is hot on their heels, finishing just five hundredths behind Steenbergen.
On the men's side, Noe Ponti takes the top seed with a time of 51.24, putting him ahead of France's Maxime Grousset by over a tenth of a second.
But here's where it gets controversial... The men's 1500 freestyle final could be one of the closest races of the night. Hungary's Zalan Sarkany leads by a slim margin of three hundredths over Sweden's Victor Johansson, with Ireland's Daniel Wiffen close behind.
The women's 200 breaststroke semifinals are also set to be a battle, with the top six swimmers separated by just over a second. Angharad Evans of Great Britain leads the pack as the only swimmer to break the 2:20 barrier.
And this is the part most people miss... Caspar Corbeau, the men's world record holder in the 200 breaststroke, is in the second heat of the men's event after finishing third in the prelims. He'll be up against Spain's Carles Coll Marti and Great Britain's Filip Nowacki, who are both within half a second of Corbeau's time.
In the women's 100 backstroke semifinals, Lauren Cox and Nina Holt are the top seeds, while Miroslav Knedla and Oliver Morgan lead the men's heats with their sub-50-second swims.
Great Britain's Freya Colbert has a strong lead in the women's 200 free final, coming in over a second ahead of Marrit Steenbergen and Minna Abraham. The men's 200 free final is equally exciting, with Duncan Scott and Lucas Henveaux tied at 1:41.56, and Jack Mcmillan just a tenth behind.
Laura Lahtinen and Louise Hansson are the top seeds in the women's 100 fly, with Roos Vanotterdijk, who will be swimming her third event of the evening, in the second semifinal heat.
The men's 100 butterfly final will be a battle between Maxime Grousset, Michal Chmelewski, and Noe Ponti, who are all within a tenth of a second of each other.
Finally, the mixed 4x50 freestyle relay finals will be a fast-paced and thrilling conclusion to the night, with Poland aiming for their fourth consecutive relay medal and national record as the host nation.
