The Changzhou Tian An Clubhouse gets a stunning makeover! But is it a harmonious blend of old and new?
HATCH Architects took on the challenge of transforming the Tian An Clubhouse, a decade-old building nestled on the shores of West Tai Lake in Changzhou, China. The renovation aimed to cater to the evolving needs of the residents while infusing a unique architectural style.
A Fusion of East and West:
The architects envisioned a space that seamlessly integrates Oriental philosophy with modern comforts. But here's where it gets controversial - how do you create a design that respects tradition while embracing contemporary living?
The Design Approach:
Led by David Wei, the design team crafted a 4000-square-meter space, scheduled for completion in 2025. They aimed to revive the connection between nature and order, a concept deeply rooted in Eastern philosophy. The challenge was to achieve this while incorporating the latest trends in architecture and interior design.
Manufacturers and Collaborators:
Daron Ceramics, Duravit, and Nippon Paint were chosen to bring the vision to life with their high-quality materials. Jiangsu Qi An Construction Group Co., Ltd. played a crucial role in the construction process. ONE HOUSE DESIGN left their mark with their expertise in furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) design.
The Result:
