Imagine a world where good hygiene is second nature, especially for our children. This October, Ghandour Cosmetics Ltd., through its hygiene brand Kleanz, took a significant step towards this vision. They launched a school activation across five schools in the Greater Accra Region to celebrate Global Handwashing Day, aiming to instill lifelong hygiene habits in young minds.
Global Handwashing Day is a crucial initiative, spotlighting the importance of clean hands in preventing the spread of diseases. Organizations worldwide, including schools and health agencies, organize activities to educate communities about proper handwashing techniques.
This year, Kleanz reached over 1,500 students across five schools: Star of the Sea (Dansoman), Christian Home School (Dansoman), Datus International School (Tema), Trinity Lutheran School (Tema), and St. Peter's Mission School (Ashaley Botwe).
The primary goal was clear: to equip children with the knowledge and motivation to wash their hands correctly and regularly, supported by Kleanz Handwashing Soap and Sanitizer.
The activation was designed to be engaging, blending education with fun activities that resonated with the 9-14 year old age group. With the support of Brand & Growth Ambassadors Dr. Louisa Satekla and Nana Ama McBrown, students participated in lively demonstrations of proper handwashing techniques, transforming a simple act into a memorable routine.
The vibrant fragrances of Kleanz Hand Soap - Antibacterial, Strawberry, Vanilla & Honey, Chocolate, and Aloe Vera - added an element of excitement, making each wash feel like a small treat. This approach helped children associate hygiene with enjoyment rather than obligation.
And this is the part most people miss... In addition to the fun, every student received a free pocket hand sanitizer with a colorful holder, perfect for clipping onto their school bags. This made staying clean not only easy but also stylish and fun!
Beyond the educational sessions, Kleanz made a lasting impact by donating soap and sanitizer dispensers to all washrooms across the five schools, along with a substantial supply of soaps and sanitizers for refills. This ensures that students have continuous access to the tools they need to maintain their new habits.
A highlight of the initiative was teaching students the Kleanz Hygiene Pledge, a simple yet powerful commitment to good hygiene practices.
The pledge plaque was then displayed in strategic locations throughout each school, serving as a constant reminder and inspiration for students to stay clean and healthy.
To reinforce the lessons, the initiative concluded with the Kleanz 21-Day Challenge, encouraging pupils to put their new habits into practice for three consecutive weeks under the theme #StayCleanWithKleanz.
While the challenge served as the climax, education and awareness remained at the heart of the campaign, equipping children with simple habits that protect them for life.
"We are not just teaching children to wash their hands; we are helping them build a routine that can protect them for years to come," said Victoria Abakah, Brands Manager for Kleanz, during one of the sessions.
From Dansoman to Tema to Ashaley Botwe, the impact is already evident. With improved understanding, daily practice, and access to the right hygiene tools, more than 1,500 students are now better equipped to stay safe and inspire healthier habits in their homes and communities.
But here's where it gets controversial... The question remains: Can we create a cleaner generation?
With education, consistency, and the support of brands like Kleanz, the answer seems more promising than ever.
