A chilling mystery from the Welsh woods has resurfaced, offering a £20,000 reward for any information that could solve this decade-old enigma.
In November 2015, a shocking discovery was made in Clocaenog Forest near Ruthin. Two brothers, camping amidst the rally crowds, stumbled upon a human skull hidden in the undergrowth. This led to a major police investigation, but despite extensive efforts, the identity of the victim remains a secret.
The man, believed to be of Caucasian heritage and born before 1950, had suffered significant injuries before his death. He was estimated to be between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall, with a robust build and a history of back problems. Experts suggest he met his end sometime between 2004 and 2011.
"This is a tragic case where someone's life was taken, and we are determined to give them a name and justice," says Hayley Fry, national manager for Wales at Crimestoppers. "We need the public's help to solve this mystery."
And here's where it gets controversial: despite advanced forensic techniques, including DNA checks and facial reconstruction, the man's identity remains elusive. No matches were found on police or missing persons databases, leaving investigators with more questions than answers.
But there's hope. Crimestoppers, an independent charity, is offering a substantial reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible. The reward, valid for three months, could be the key to unlocking this mystery.
"Someone out there knows something," Fry emphasizes. "We urge anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to come forward. Every detail could be crucial."
